Camera & Coffee Sessions

We live in an increasingly visual world, surrounded by media such as Instagram, online content and the general internet; and the role of the story teller is in the fore of this world.

The Camera & Coffee Sessions are a series of bite sized personal, interactive tutorial sessions that guide people into the role of the visual story teller from basic camera handling, ISO, aperture, shutter speeds, depth of field and movement and visual devices through to advanced visual literacy.

John Robinson is part of the Market Theatre Photography Workshop alumni, he studied aspects of media and cultural studies at UKZN at a postgraduate level and has a creative studies National Diploma from Technikon Natal. He developed the Camera & Coffee Sessions out of the way he was taught photography, personal work experience and from extensive research into photography and visual storytelling.

The Camera & Coffee Sessions are available on a one to one format over a cup of coffee in a local Pietermaritzburg coffee shop, these sessions are also available in a small group format in a suitable work or meeting space.

I am currently involved with a photography workshop for young unemployed photographers in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Power Within can be reached on http://power-within.org for more information.
